About our Rodentry

What do we feed :

Here we feed mainly Mazuri Rat Breeder 6F pellets as well as Mazuri Rat and Mouse pellets ( higher proteins ).

Our rats also receive during the week ;

Hard boiled fresh eggs from our free range hens, fresh basil, fresh mint, cereals, black oil sunflower seeds, bones, yoghurt, fruits, veggies, etc.

The cages we use :

We mainly use these specific cages, along with custom stainless steel high pans from Bass Equipment.

We also use custom made Acrylic Bins, more details in our "Bioactive" section.

Prevue Rat & Chinchilla Cage

- Prevue Feisty Ferret Cage

We currently use safe kiln dried pine bedding from America's Choice "Mini Flake" and Tractor Supply "Shavings".

Activities and accessories :

Hammocks

We mostly use cut out anti-pill fleece without any sewing ; it allow us to clean them more easily in the washing machine, as well as being more cost efficient than fancily sewn hammocks ( which are pretty, but our rats seems to prefer the more simple fleece ones. ).

"Ball" pit
If you follow our media accounts, you'll often notice our very loved "ball" pit. It is actually a shoebox size clear bin, filled with 1000+ colorful pompoms, 1inch size. We hide treats in the box, and then the rats have fun for HOURS.

Free Roam
Some of our rats enjoy free roaming a lot. We often let them loose in the room while we clean the cages and things. It allow them to feel less stressed by all the moving around and noises, as they are too busy exploring!

Training
Yes, that is a thing! We actually have lot of fun teaching them tricks. If you see your rat adopted from us do circles when you rustle a bag of treats, chances are that it was our doing. It is extremely easy to teach them things, and they will generally go teach it to the other rats as well! It can be as quick as one day to teach a rat some simple tricks.

Air Purifier
Believe it or not, but that really do help with keeping the smell down, as well as giving you and your pets better air quality! Rats are super sensitive to anything that affect the respiratory system. With that in mind, we refuse to use any sort of air freshener, candles, spray, melts, etc.

Bioactive
The best thing you could do for your rats is to go bioactive! All it needs is being crafty, coco coir soil, springtails ( micro-organism ) and some dedication. It is a very big investment, BUT in the end, you will never have to purchase bags of bedding or change the cage AND give your rats the most natural and enriched habitat! You only top it back up each few months with more soil, spot clean, and add more springtails every month.

See our "useful links" tab for more information!

We make NO profits ;

All money made go right back into the rats in terms of ;

food, enrichment, housing, veterinary care, donations to rescues/charities/owners in need of help, and more.
Providing you with pet quality animals is our passion, and we put everything we can towards that goal.
